Kathryn Belle Hopper, 85, of Champaign died 3:15 A.M. July 5, 2008 at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.

A graveside service will be held 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign. Rev. Michael Smith will officiate. Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory 1900 S. Philo Rd. Urbana is handling arrangements.

Kathryn Belle Hopper was born March 9, 1923 in Champaign a daughter of Oren and Sylvia Staley Kibler. She married George Oliver Hopper on September 14, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1985.

Survivors include five children George (Alfreda) Hopper, Marjorie Hopper, Philip (Debbie) Hopper, Carl (Treva) Hopper, David (Sue) Hopper; three sisters Mary Cuppernell, Marge Burt, Judy (Hugh) Conerty; a brother Kent (Phyllis) Kibler; sister in law Loretta Kibler; fourteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Frank Hopper, and a brother William Kibler.

Kathryn graduated from Urbana High School in 1940 and then from Champaign Beauty School in 1946. She was a Rosie Riveter during WWII at Douglas Aircraft. After the war she became a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church in Sadorus.
