Katherine was born on April 23, 1921, in Philo, a daughter of Orma Perl and Emma Amelia (Mumm) Brewer. She married John D. "Jack" Clark on September 2, 1945, at the Lutheran Parsonage in Danville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Frank, Kenneth, Walter and Joseph.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, and both grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Clark attended Philo Public School, graduating in the year 1939. After high school graduation, she worked for the family of Lindley Hudson, Urbana. She also worked in the office of Montgomery Ward, Urbana and was a manager of a dress shop in downtown Urbana for several years. On February 1, 1948 Katherine joined Illinois Crop Improvement Association as a bookkeeper and secretary. When Illinois Seed Dealers Association became associated with Illinois Crop, and the first permanent secretary-treasurer was appointed for ISDA in the year 1957, Katherine accepted the responsibility of assisting with the activities of that organization. She was active in the Farm and Home Week, planning activities for twenty-four years. When this was dropped, the Association continued their banquets in June of each year, Katherine remaining as activities planner for the event. She was also in charge of all of the office mailings, flyers for the annual meetings, letters to membership during the year, new seed varieties released, and many articles written by members of the Association. In 1970, she was named Publications and Assistant Manager. She retired from the Association on June 30, 1986, after thirty -eight happy years with the office, receiving an honorary membership in both the Illinois Crop Improvement Association and Illinois Seed Dealers.

Katherine was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Philo. Memorial Contributions may be made to the church.
