June M. Anderson, 89 of Urbana, Illinois passed away at 4:56 p.m. Saturday February 9, 2013 at Bickford Cottage in Champaign. An hour visitation will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 1:30 p.m at the Mt. Hope Mausoleum Chapel, Urbana Illinois. With entombment to follow.
June was born May 30, 1923 in Hoopeston Illinois and was adopted by Ora and Anna Keating of Urbana at the age of six. She attended Leal Grade School , Thornburn Jr. High School, Urbana High School, Champaign High School, Pasadena Jr. College, University of Illinois, Chicago School of Interior Decorating and the Burnham City Hospital School of Nursing.
June married Raymond Anderson on October 8, 1942 in Champaign Illinois. He proceeded her in death on January 20, 1994. June is survived by one son, Thomas Anderson of Reseda California and one daughter Sandra Peyton of Urbana Illinois. Also surviving are two grandchildren Kevin Peyton of North East Pennsylvania and Nicole (Chris) Browning of Louisville Colorado, three great-grandchildren, Sierra, Sasha and Connor Browning
She was a member of University Place Christian Church. She and Raymond were active in missions and taught adult Sunday school classes at Webber Street Christian Church. June served as church librarian for many years at Pennsylvania Ave. Baptist Church. She worked at the University of Illinois in temporary affair positions, was also a bookkeeper at American Savoy Bank and owned and operated an at home upholstery shop for fifteen years.
June was fond of reading, sewing and enjoyed time with her church family and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Truxton and Dean Keating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Champaign County Humane Society in June's name. Condolences may be made at rennerwikoffchapel.com.
