Judy Susie Alice Jones was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Willie and Josephine Jones. Judy departed this life on January 17, 2015 at 12:10 A.M.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
Judy attended Price Elementary and Forestville High School in Chicago. Later she moved to Champaign-Urbana with her three daughters and four grandchildren at that time. Shortly after, the love of her life followed and they joined in matrimony in 2011. Judy attended Urbana Adult Ed and Parkland College where she furthered her education.
Judy was an entrepreneur; she had her own business called Creative Hands. She showed her craft in making plant hangers, cartoon magnets, pillows, key chains, and many other special crafts she had. In addition to her arts and crafts she volunteered with the University of Illinois and Prairie School where she began employment. She also volunteered at Don Moyer boys and girls club, she found employment there also.
Judy started a program called Positive Change or "PC" for short, in her words. She designed the program to keep kids off of the streets by doing positive activities like crafting, games, computers, etc.
Judy had a heart of gold, always loved helping people, rather they be family or not, truly an angel on earth.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Willie Ann Jones, Benny Mae Jones, her brother Charles Jones two aunts, Fannie Young and Nelly Travis.
She leaves to cherish three daughters, Alfreda (Alonzo) Jones Jarrell, Joanne Jones and Crystal Jones and 14 grandchildren (8 boys & 6 girls). The love for her grandchildren is indestructible. Judy also leaves to mourn her husband, Lonnie Collins, along with a host of relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
