Obituary

Joseph Benjamin Wyatt, 24, left this world Thursday, June 27, 2013.

He was born March 16, 1989, in Mashpee, MA, the son of Scott Wyatt of Urbana and Donna Purcell of White Heath. They survive. Also surviving are two sisters, Valerie Wyatt of Chicago, IL, and Rayna Walston of Reno, NV, one brother, James Miller of Urbana, step-father Brad Purcell of White Heath, and step-mother Tina Mae Wyatt of Urbana.

Joseph was a Life rank member of Boy Scouts Troop 107, and a 2007 graduate of Centennial High School in Champaign, where he sang in the Reflections choral group. Joseph took interest in Native traditions, dance, and gaming. He was a part-time student at Parkland studying psychology, and independently pursued Logotherapy. Recently he was employed at Milo's restaurant. He was a member of the Alpha Zeta Omega (Parkland) Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity.

Joe was instrumental in revitalizing the Nekro dance scene at C Street Bar, whether organizing, building sets, or dancing his heart out. His energy, enthusiasm, and camaraderie brought many to the dance floor.

Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 - 2:45PM, Saturday, July 6 at Canterbury House at The Chapel of St. John the Divine, 1011 S. Wright St., Champaign, with a memorial service following at 3:30PM at the chapel, the Rev. Sean Ferrell officiating.
