Joseph H. Sleeter, age 89, of rural Urbana died 2:00 a.m. Sun., Dec. 24 at Manorcare Health Services in Champaign.

A Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thur., Dec. 28, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 708 W. Main St., Urbana. Father Joseph Hogan will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wed. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana.

Mr. Sleeter was born in Thomasboro, Feb. 21, 1917, the son of Joseph and Anna Meier Sleeter. He married Mary Waters on Feb. 8, 1945 in Champaign, she survives. Also survived by two Daughters, Susie (Jerry) McArthur of Urbana and Beth (Charlie) Reinhart of Tolono. Seven grandchildren and Eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 1 sister and 1 brother.

Mr. Sleeter is a 1935 graduate of Rantoul High School. He was a farmer and also a crop reporter for ASCS (ag conservation). He also restored, repaired and refurbished tractors. He is a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Urbana, the Knights of Columbus and Champaign County Farm Bureau. Memorial contributions may be made to Provena Covenant Hospice or to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
