Obituary

Joseph Hannis Pollard 71, of Champaign truly is a servant of Jesus Christ. This United States Marine received his latest call up order at1:30 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2008 to serve alongside with the armies of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Memorial services will be held at Tapestry Church, 406 Kenwood Rd., Champaign, 6:00 p.m. Saturday, November 1. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Pollard was born on February 16, 1937 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, the son of Joseph Robin & Lee Evelyn Barnes Pollard.

He is survived by one son; Joseph Pollard Jr. of Greenwood, Indiana, one daughter; Laura Skirvin of Bradenton, Florida, one sister; Jocile Johnson of Manassas, VA and two grandchildren; Marissa Dawn Skirvin of Bloomington, Indiana and Madeline Ruth Pollard of Greenwood, Indiana.

Mr. Pollard graduated from West Chester State College, and attended graduate school at Indiana University and was a self employed counselor.

While stationed here in Champaign as one of the Lord's servants, he gave counsel to many a young man, or woman to aid them in their walk with Christ. He asked for nothing, being content just to be a servant.

He was known for his Mcministry, both in the McDonalds near Park North Apts. in Bloomington, Indiana or at one of the various locations in Champaign, being on active duty whenever a soul needed to hear the Good Word. He is a true friend, and those of us who know him well wish him well in his new endeavor. We look forward to seeing him again.
