Joseph Morris Butsch 87 of Urbana died at 2:02 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana. A reception will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was born on May 9, 1926 in Urbana, the son of Joseph and Ruth Adams Butsch. He married his sweetheart Joyce Denman in November 1964, she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter; Joella (Thomas A.) Gher of Mahomet, one son; Joseph M. (Michelle) Butsch Jr. of Monticello, five grandchildren; Ashley Gher, Joel Gher, Quinton Butsch, Kameron Butsch and Alexis Butsch.

He was preceded in death by his sister; Rosella Ruth Butsch.

Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. His early years were spent at Uni High School, where he played on the championship basketball team - number 22.

He later served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 - 1946.

They lived in Mahomet with their two children for more than 20 years.

Joe was an electrician and began his career in 1953 where he worked on the Assembly Hall from start to finish and then began working for University of Illinois for 24 years from 1962 - 1986.

His passion for his work as an electrician along with his love for classic automobiles and antiques all contribute to the countless stories his family and friends will forever cherish.

He was a member of the Moose Club and I.B.E.W. local #601.
