John Henry Wingler Sr., age 81 of Urbana, Illinois died May 10, 2013 at 7:50 p.m.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory in Urbana. An informal graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign at 11:00 a.m.

John Wingler was born January 10, 1932 in Champaign County, son of Clarence and Ruth Bailey Wingler. He married Phyllis Jean Schoonover on October 27, 1951 in Clinton, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2009. Also preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, a grandson, three half- brothers and two half- sisters.

He is survived by his six children: John (Nancy) Wingler of Lancaster, Texas, Ron Wingler of Urbana, Linda Wingler of Urbana, Laura (Kevin) Potts of Rantoul, Brenda (Steve) Hester of Urbana and Nancy (Chris) Grob of Plano, Texas. He is also survived by a sister, Joyce Searer of Warsaw, Indiana, a brother, Morris (Carol) Wingler of Urbana, a half-sister Mary-Ellen Huddle of Savoy, thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

John enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed racing stock cars in the 50's and 60's and watching NASCAR.
