John E. Strange, 81, of Champaign passed away at 8:34 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory in Urbana. Cremation Rites will be accorded and burial will take place at a later date at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora, IL.

John was born in Flora, IL in 1935 to parents George and Bertha (Brewer) Strange. They preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were four brothers and four sisters.

On April 14, 1981 he married Darlene Zook in Urbana, she survives. Also surviving are daughters; Christine Bell (Doug) of Franklin, TN, Lisa Kelly of Urbana, son Sean Kelly of Pontiac, two granddaughters, one grandson, one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

John was a breakfast cook for over forty years, working many places including Uncle John's and Phoney Mahoneys. He was named "Best Breakfast Cook in Town" by Annettes Homestead.

He was a passionate and vocal man when it came to his point of view; he loved animals, old country and old gospel music. Above all he was a devoted and loving husband and father.
