The celebration of John "Kip" McLaughlin's life will be Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel in Urbana, Illinois.

Kip was 75 years old when he passed away at the Carle Hospital early Wednesday morning after a strong fight against congestive heart failure and cancer.

Kip was the loving husband of his wife, Hanne, for 51 years and father of four sons: Jan, Peter, Brian and Kevin and the proud grandfather of Katie, Janna, Ashley, Holly, Chris, Anneka, and Jacob. He is also survived by his brothers Richard and Mark and their families.

He was preceded in death by his son Peter.

Kip was a well respected police officer and professor at the University of Illinois Police Training Institute for 28 years.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana. Mark McLaughlin will officiate.
