MANSFIELD, IL- John Harmon Bohlen, 71, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully at home in the loving arms of his family at 8:15 P.M., Friday, January 18, 2008.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL. Rev. Don Ferrill will officiate. Burial will be held at Blue Ridge Cemetery, Mansfield. Visitation will be held from 6-8PM, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Bohlen was born October 30, 1936 at Urbana, a son of Harm H. Bohlen Sr. and Hannah Ennen Bohlen. He married Barbara A. Hyatt on January 27, 1956 at Covington, IN. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters: Rebecca A. Bohlen of Mansfield, and Teresa L. Reynolds(Dan) of Weldon, IL; 5 grandchildren: Jennifer L. Bohlen and Kyle A. Bohlen, both of Mansfield, and Hannah M. Reynolds, Holly D. Reynolds and Haley A. Reynolds, all of Weldon; 2 great grandchildren: Colton J. Bohlen and Jakob J. Bohlen, both of Mansfield; 3 brothers: Harm H. Bohlen, Jr.(Betty) of Neoga, IL, Raymond Bohlen of Decatur, IL, and Herman Bohlen(Lois) of Longview, WA; 3 sisters: Hannah Murphy of Toledo, WA, Helen Rose of California and Lydia Wilding-White of Potomac, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers.
John attended Urbana schools and was a retired business owner, having retired after 50 years. He, along with his wife, owned and operated Bohlen's Ice Co. in Champaign. He was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Urbana, and enjoyed country and bluegrass music, hunting and fishing. He was an avid Cubs and Illini fan. He also enjoyed visiting with friends at the American Legion and V.F.W. in Champaign and of utmost importance, he loved his family and grandchildren and spending time with them.
