Jimmey L. Kaiser, 88 of Champaign passed away Sunday August 25, 2024 at Manor Court of Rochelle, IL. He was born May 14, 1936 in Robinson, the son of Laurell Velmore and Eleanor Faye (Sheese) Kaiser. He married Mona A. Slater on June 30, 1956 in Robinson. Mona preceded him in death August, 2021.
Jim is survived by daughters Sheri Eichelberger (Gregg) and Heidi Mann (Curt). Also surviving are grandchildren Mitchell (Stephanie) Crandall and Mackenzie (Brent) Boardman, and brother Bob Kaiser.
Jim attended Robinson Schools and graduated from Millikin University, Decatur with a degree in Business Administration and Economics. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Urbana and was on the Board of Trustees. He was a member of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Illinois, Urbana Lodge #157 and was Past Master. He was a member of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, Valley of Danville and received the honor of 33rd Degree. He was treasurer of the Area Masonic Scholarship Board. He was a member of Hope Chapter of Order of Eastern Star.
Jim spent 36 years of his career working for the University of Illinois. He was Director of Transportation Management for many years before moving over to the College of Civil Engineering as the Director of Budget and Research Planning.
His other memberships were Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity and was National-Regional Vice-President and Chapter President. Jim was on the Provena Covenant Mission Committee and Chairman of the Champaign County Senior Services Board. He belonged to The American Legion Post #24, Urbana, The National Rifle Association, Illinois State Rifle Association and the Association of Transportation Law Professionals.
Visitation will be Sunday September 1 from 3 to 5 p.m with Masonic Rites at 2:45 p.m. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 Philo Rd., Urbana. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 2. Rev. Robert Freeman and Rev. Jeffrey Stahl will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Palestine at 2:00 p.m. Monday. Military Honors will be accorded.
Memorials in memory of Jim will go to First United Methodist Church of Urbana and the American Heart Association.
