Obituary

Memorial services for James (Jim) L. Ireland, 62, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church, 313 S. Prospect Ave., Champaign, IL. The Reverend Roger Digges will officiate. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL, is in charge of arrangements.

Jim passed away at 8:38 A.M., on Saturday, September 1, 2012. Jim was born on January 27, 1950 at Burnham Hospital in Champaign to Jack Ireland and Leona Flahive. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Jack, two brothers, Robert and David and first wife, Janet. His mother survives, along with his daughter, Amber Bartelmey of North Aurora, IL and grand-daughter Hannah. Amber and her husband Keith are both teachers. Also surviving are his wife, Leslie, together with two stepsons, Andrew and Joseph Jr. Stancook (Brandy) and a step daughter, Katie Benning (Matt) along with grandson, Luke.

Jim graduated from Paxton High School and attended Parkland College in their first class in 1968. He was a charter member of Pi Sigma Iota automotive fraternity. Jim worked at Springer Ford in Rantoul as a service technician. He started working for Chemical Maintenance Inc. in 1971 as warehouse manager and created their service department in 1975. Jim left CMI in 2004 and went to work at Carle Clinic and hospital as a carpet maintenance employee. He retired from Carle in May of 2012 and came home to his wife Leslie. Jim enjoyed Indian lore, Civil War history, but especially country music and camping with his wife, Leslie.
