Jessica Ann
Harries
Feb 3, 1981 — Aug 2, 2009
Jessica Ann Harries passed away at home in rural Tolono on Sunday, August 2, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with clinical depression and chronic pain.
Visitation will be held at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel in Urbana on Wednesday, August 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Thursday, August 6 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Locust Grove Cemetery in Philo, Il.
Born February 3, 1981 in Champaign, Il, Jessica was the only daughter of Mark Harries of Champaign and Janie Frye of Tolono. She attended Urbana High School as well as New Trier High School in Winnetka, Il. She also attended Parkland Community College and worked for several years at Manor Care Nursing Home as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Surviving are her parents, her stepfather Vern Knapp of Tolono, two brothers William Harries of Champaign and Weston Harries of Tolono, maternal grandparents George and Dorothy Frye of Savoy, and paternal grandfather Bill Harries of Salisbury, North Carolina. She also leaves her Aunt Karen and Uncle Rod Stanley of Houston, TX, her Uncle David and Aunt Lilabeth Frye of Champaign, her Uncle John Jackson of Hemingway, SC, her five cousins Tim, Lucas, Dusty, Allen, and Sasha, and her dog Gretta.
Jessica will be sorely missed by her family and the many friends she has made over the years. She enjoyed reading, drawing and painting, music, dancing, poetry, and all aspects of nature. Everyone who knew Jessica will remember her for how much she loved to laugh and have fun with her friends and family, for her beauty and intuition and intelligence, and for her generosity and unusual capacity for showing compassion and concern for others. She truly touched the heart and soul of everyone she met. Jessica loved animals, and the family requests that memorials may be made to the Champaign County Humane Society.
