Jerry L. Rhoton 77 of Philo passed away at home on Sunday August 13, 2017. Visitation and funeral services will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. and 11:00-11:30 a.m. respectfully Wednesday August 16, 2017 at Faith Baptist Church located at 4601 N Market St, Champaign, IL 61822. Jerry will be interred at Grandview Memorial Gardens 4112 W. Bloomington Road, Champaign immediately following the services. Mr. Rhoton was born March 25, 1940, at Tompkinsville, Kentucky. The son of Walter and Ruby Bell (Gillenwater) Rhoton, both deceased. Jerry was married to Sharon (Irvin) Rhoton of Philo, she survives. Jerry had four children: Scott (Ann) Rhoton, Sidney. Greg (Debbie) Rhoton of Sidney. Donna (Mark) Miller of Mahomet and Jerry (Jane) Rhoton of Philo. Two grandchildren Elizabeth Miller of Mahomet and Joshua Rhoton of Philo. Jerry is also survived by 5 siblings: Vernie (Larry) Vestal of Georgetown. James (Judy) Rhoton of Homer. Jeridan (Cathy) Rhoton of Earlville. Evie (Cecil) Honea of Longview, Texas and Kathy (Jim) Strawser of Homer. Two Deceased brothers; Thomas Rhoton of Florida and John Rhoton of Homer. Jerry graduated from Homer High School in 1958. Jerry served in the U.S. Army, 65th Combat Engineer Battalion, 25th Infantry Division from 1958-1961. Jerry was owner/operator of the Rhoton Service Shell in Champaign for 10 years and owner/operator of Philo Colorado Shell for 13 years. Jerry retired from the Urbana Post Office, March 2011. Jerry was a long time member of Faith Baptist Church in Champaign. Memorials may be made to the Faith Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
