Jean S. Singley, 95 of Savoy passed away at 6:00 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at Heartland Nursing Home, Champaign.

Jean was born January 10, 1922 in Danvers, the daughter of Herbert P. and Ellsie (Irons) Sloneker. She married Lyle Singley of Bloomington on December 13, 1942 and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1972. She is also preceded in death by a brother Donald Sloneker. She is survived by her son, Derryl Singley (Richard Hertel) of Savoy and brothers Richard L. Sloneker of South Pekin and James H. Sloneker (Joanne) of Bloomington.

Jean attended a one room country grade school and graduated from Danvers Township High School. After graduating she did secretarial work in Bloomington and Rantoul. She retired from Vesuvius USA, Champaign on September 21, 1990 and was the secretary of her Homeowners Association for 23 years. She was a charter member of New Horizon United Methodist Church, Champaign and an active volunteer with hospitality, greeter, Small Group leader, and office volunteer as long as her health permitted. Her interests were volunteering, reading, music and oil painting.
