Jay Meyers 81 of Champaign died at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Kindred Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana. The Rev. Dr. Terry Ewing will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana with military services conducted by VFW Post 5520, Champaign. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Meyers was born on March 18, 1927 in Champaign, the son of Robert and Thurza Sells Meyers. He married Beverly L. Barham on October 15, 1949 in Champaign; she died on February 22, 2008.

Survivors include two sons; Douglas F. (Patricia) Meyers and Wesley J. (Mary Beth) Meyers both of Champaign, one brother; Ray N. Meyers of Mahomet, one sister; Ruth I. Brownfield of Madison, Alabama, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

Mr. Meyers was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II and retired as a printing pressman for Kowa Graphics.

He was a member of University Place Christian Church, Champaign and Graphics Communications International Union. He enjoyed fishing and his grandchildren.
