James D. Tucker passed away at Carle Hospital, Urbana, IL. on October 28, 2016. He was born at home on a farm in Union County, IL. on August 14, 1928; son of Herbert Curtis and Fannie Miller Tucker.

Jim graduated from Wolf Lake Community High School, and Southern Illinois University (1949), with a degree in Agriculture Education. He taught Veterans Agriculture for two years, and then served in the Air Force. He was employed by Farmers Home Administration, USDA, for 41 years, in Illinois and Washington, DC. He retired in December 1991. He spent the next 17 years working at Jerry's IGA, at both the Philo Road and Round Barn locations. He enjoyed interacting and getting to know the customers. He was actively involved in Rotary, Cub Scouts, and his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, two sisters, and his loving wife. He married Dorothy Wilma Kunz on December 23, 1951, in Vandalia, IL. She passed on February 13, 2008. He is survived by his three children, Marcia (Raymond) Hauser, of Greenwood, IN; Mary (Randall) Conklen, of New Holland, IL; Mark Tucker, of Urbana, IL. He is also survived by four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016 Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign; Pastor James Lehman will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Renner-Wikoff Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Carle Center for Philanthropy, to benefit home care, 611 West Park Street, Urbana, IL. 61801.
