URBANA, IL- James E. Overmyer, 96, of Urbana, IL, passed away at 12:20 P.M., Friday, March 13, 2015 at his residence. Private family services will be held at Mt. Hope Mausoleum in Champaign, IL. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL is charge of arrangements.

James was born on October 17, 1918 in Neoga, Illinois, a son of Frank and Pearl (Drennan) Overmyer. He graduated from high school in Tolono, IL in 1936 and served in the the United States Army as a lineman during World War II. He was awarded the Silver Star Medal. James worked as a housing inspector for the University of Illinois for 22 years.

Survivors include his wife, Lois of Urbana, IL, two daughters, Celinda "Cindy" Mitchell of Manassas, Virginia and Cynthia Mahoney of Oram, Utah. 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a sister, Patricia also survive.

He was preceded in death by his son, Joel, a brother, a sister and a granddaughter.
