URBANA, IL- James Wesley Gillaspie, 58, of Urbana, Illinois, passed away at 2:30 P.M., Thursday, April 4, 2013.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M, Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Faith United Methodist Church, 1719 S. Prospect Ave., Champaign, IL, with burial following at Bailey Cemetery, Tolono, IL.

James was born on October 6, 1954, a son of Wesley Merle and Faye A. (Goodwin) Gillaspie. Survivors include a son, Joshua James(Jennifer) Gillaspie of Jacksonville, Fla.; a grandson, Mason Carter Gillaspie of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Monte Clay Gillaspie of Oblong, IL; two sisters, Carole(J.R.) Burns of Pesotum, IL, Lynn(Michael) Cain of Champaign, IL; his step-mother, Genie Gillaspie of Champaign, and step-siblings, Judy King, Linda Weber, Danny Davis, and Chuck Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a niece, Abby Terven.

James attended Urbana schools and graduated from Centennial High School in Champaign. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and later worked as a barber for Kings Barber Shop in Urbana. James attended Faith United Methodist Church and Meadowbrook Church, and he enjoyed fishing.
