Obituary

James "Jim" Emberton, 64, of Savoy, passed away at 2:55 a.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital. A visitation will be held Monday, July 20th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 21st at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 405 W. Clark St., Champaign, with Fr. David Sajdack officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Champaign.

Mr. Emberton was born August 4, 1950 in Urbana, Illinois to parents James Bernard "J.B." and Helen (Mannion) Emberton. He is survived by daughter, Jamie Price (Derek), of Monticello, Illinois, son, Jacob Emberton (Brandy), of Champaign, Illinois, brother, Steve Emberton (Sara), of Naperville, Illinois, sister, Sharon Britt (Rick), of Louisville, Kentucky, granddaughter, Devin Price, of Monticello, Illinois, step-mother, Beverly Emberton, of Tolono, Illinois, and step-sisters, Cindy Atkins (Donald), of Savoy, Illinois, Debbie Seidelman, of Fisher, Illinois, and Pamela Postelwait (Steve), of Deland, Illinois. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and step-brother, David Postelwait.

Mr. Emberton received his associate's degree through Parkland College before starting his career as a laborer with the Laborer's Local #703. As a laborer, he worked at the Clinton Power Plant, then the University of Illinois before retiring.
