Jake Comstock

URBANA-Gerald "Jake" Comstock, age 81, of Urbana, Ill., died 7:00 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2006, at home. Funeral services will be at Renner-Wikoff Chapel Monday, Oct. 30 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Glenn Corbly officiating. Interment will be at Eastlawn Cemetery in Urbana, where Military Rites will be accorded by Champaign VFW Post 5520. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born in Urbana on Nov. 18, 1924, the son of William and Bertha Hacker Comstock. He married Barbara Lewis on Feb. 22, 1947 in Urbana. She preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 2004.

He is survived by: Two Daughters, Vicki Comstock Koresch of Downers Grove, Ill., Carla Burian of Edwardsville, Ill. and Two grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one sister. Mr. Comstock graduated from Urbana high School, was employed by IL Central RR and a member of First Baptist Church of Urbana. He was also a member of Western Star Masonic Lodge No. 240 where he was a 50 year member. and was a Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Danville. Hobbies include: Cubs baseball, fishing, furniture refinishing and raising tomatoes. He was a staff sergeant in the US Army during WW II.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or to the Disabled American Veterans.
