URBANA, IL- Irene Whitman of Clark-Lindsay Village, Urbana, Illinois has gone to be with our Lord on February 17, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL. John Elder will officiate. Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Monmouth City Cemetery, Monmouth, IL.

Irene was born on January 2, 1915 to her parents, Joseph F. Huff and Ruth Leinbach Huff in Stronghurst, Illinois. She was married to George B. Whitman on March 20, 1948. George preceded her in death in December 1977.

Irene was an elementary teacher in Illinois for many years, where she demonstrated a genuine love for young children. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Champaign. She also was a leader and avid supporter of Bible Study Fellowship from its beginnings in Champaign-Urbana, where she winessed life changing events in many lives.

Irene will be missed by many friends, two nieces, Nancy Ford of Urbana and Jan Whitman of Champaign, and her four longtime friends who were considered as adopted daughters, Mary Tauber of Urbana, Sue Thurmon and Pam Grubb of Champaign, and Marilyn Hagrelius of Princeton, IL. Two step-grandchildren also survive, Christopher Clark of Wood Dale, IL and Jean Ann Hack of Monmouth, IL.
