Ion Baianu, 65, of Urbana Illinois passed away at 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, February 10,2013 at his residence.

A memorial service will be held at Renner-Wikoff Chapel on Friday, February 22,2013 at 3:00 p.m.

Ion was born August 18, 1947 in T. Logresti Romania to parents Constantine and Simona Baianu. On May 12, 1979 he married Kimiko Saito, she survives. Also surviving are his two children, Christina Baianu of San Francisco California and Stephen Baianu of Los Angeles, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ion attended the University of London, received his Ph. D. and was a professor at the University of Illinois for thirty years.
