URBANA, IL- Ida Francis (Buttitta) D'Urso passed away peacefully at her home on November 4th, 2018 in Urbana, IL at the age of 95. Funeral services for Ida will be at 11:30 AM, Friday, November 9, 2018, at St. Patricks Catholic Church, 708 W. Main St., Urbana. The Rev. Luke Spannagel will officiate. A Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to visitation, which will be held from 10:30-11:30 AM before the funeral service. Burial will follow the funeral service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana.
Ida was born in Champaign, to James and Ida Buttitta on February 16, 1923. Ida was the 6th child of 7 and the 3rd daughter of 4 in her family. She attended Holy Cross School and graduated from Champaign High School in 1941. On June 26th, 1941 she married Lucius A. D'Urso at Holy Cross Church and they were blessed with 69 years of marriage. Lucius and Ida were lifelong residents of Champaign-Urbana and members of St. Patrick's Church in Urbana. Ida was a member of the St. Patrick's Altar and Rosary Society and was dedicated to her faith and family. Ida was outgoing and loved helping others. She worked at Bongart's Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician, and retired in 1988. Ida worked part time at Kindercare where she shared her love with children. Ida loved spending her free time crocheting, and doing other crafts. Her greatest love was being with her family and friends.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Lucius; sisters, Anna Buttitta, Mrs. Lena Landreth; and brothers, Dominick, Joseph and James "Red" Buttitta.
She is survived by a son, Louie D'Urso(Teresa) of Mahomet; and two daughters, Anita Sullivan and Lorrie Whitaker of Naperville. She has ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Other survivors also include her sister, Anna Marie Conlin, sister-in-law Toni D'Urso and many nieces and nephews.
Ida was a devoted wife and mother. She was more than our mom: She was our role model and we will always carry her memory in our hearts.
