Hugh "Hat" Burton, 66 of Urbana, passed away at 9:32 a.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory, Urbana. Cremation rites to follow.

Hat was born on December 28, 1946 in Indiana to parents Harry and Mable (Carber) Burton. They preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Debra Burton, son, Anthony Burton, three brothers and one sister.

Hat is survived by his significant other, Cathy McCarty of Urbana, a son, Troy Gutski of Michigan, three sisters, Roberta Burton of Urbana, Ann Gibbs of Tennessee and Denise Pack, two brothers, Donald and Douglas Pack, both of Ohio, nieces, nephews, and his dog Poco.

Hat worked as a painter, he liked to fish and was a great cook. He was always the life of the party, drinking Budweiser and playing practical jokes on people. Hat was a great spouse, brother and friend. He was a lady's man and was always receiving compliments on his beautiful blue eyes.
