Henry Virgil Krone passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 in Coppell, TX surrounded by loved ones. He was 85 years old. Virgil was born in Tamaroa, Illinois on September 14, 1925 to Henry and Elsie Krone. He served in the Navy for two years before graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign earning a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering. Virgil worked for over 20 years at the Coordinated Science Lab at the University before retiring. After retirement, he later worked for the United States Air Force until Chanute Air Force Base's closure. Thus began his second retirement career of golf and travel. Virgil married his wife, Norma Jean, on November 22, 1953. They had four children and made Urbana their home. In 2008, they moved to Lewisville, Texas to be near their grandchildren. Virgil is survived by three children, Carolyn Krone of Richardson TX, David Krone and wife Sherry of Cape Coral FL, Kevin Krone and wife Rebekah of Coppell TX, two grandchildren, Carson and Caroline, of Coppell, TX, and one step-grandson, Hunter Morman of Coppell TX. Four Sisters, his wife, Jean, and one son, Stephen Dale, predeceased Virgil. Virgil was loving, compassionate, giving, and forever finding the bright side of everything. His faith was his foundation and guided him throughout life. He loved his family and friends deeply and his constant and calming presence will be forever missed. He dedicated his life to his wife and children. He cared about helping others and showed his passion for serving others through his 24-years tenure as a Board Member on the Illinois Advisory Board for Services for Persons who are Deaf-Blind. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday June 25, 2011 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel 1900 S. Philo Road, Urbana, IL. Rev. J. Michael Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, June 24, 2011, at the funeral home Memorials may be made in Virgil's honor to The Camp Helen Keller for Deaf-Blind Adults.
