Helen P. Young 81 of Urbana died at 5:57 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

There will be no public services. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Young was born on August 19, 1928 in Chicago, the daughter of Charles and Louvine Young.

Survivors include one daughter; Victoria Way (Willie Owens) of Champaign, three granddaughters; Stephanie (Terry) King of New York, Robin Way and Charmin (Byron) Olion both of Champaign, seven great grandchildren; Tabitha (Charles) Moore, Tela Way, Taryn Moore, Aliyah Olion, Brittany King, Tiffany King, Torey Rich, and three great great grandchildren; Charles Moore, Ysenia Souders and Ca'Maure Moore.

She was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one grandchild. Mrs. Young worked as a case worker for the Urban League, the U of I in the food service dept. and retired as a daycare provider in her home.

She was a member of Deliverance Temple, Champaign with Pastor Myrick as her spiritual counselor.

Mrs. Young loved to crochet; spending time with her grandchildren and family and she supported the Fraternal Order of Police and the Matthew House.
