Helen Marie Swearingen 95 of Champaign died at 6:55 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Helen was born June 19, 1914 in Champaign, the daughter if Clara Mae and James M. Thurston. She married Glenn Swearingen I n1931. He passed away in 1963.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2009 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana, Rev. Randy Gauger will officiate. There will be no public visitation. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Helen is survived by a daughter; Barbara Bender (Russell), three grandchildren; Gary Lee Swearingen (Jody) of Gifford, Daniel Bender (Lisa) and Diana Bender of Urbana, three great grandchildren and one great-great grandson

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Gary Swearingen, of Urbana.

She was a homemaker and businesswoman. She enjoyed gardening, horses, and harness racing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Palliative Unit of Carle Hospital, Carle Hospice, or a charity of the donor's choice.
