Obituary

Helen M. Rennels age 91 passed away May 28, 2010 at her home near Longview with her family members at her bedside.

Born in Georgetown the daughter of Parris E. and Mabel Davenport Herren on September 25, 1918, she had one sister Francis M. Morgan and a brother William Herren, both of who preceded her in death. In addition, her husband Robert G. Rennels preceded her in July of 1980.

Helen had two sons, Robert W. (Marty) Rennels of Monticello and Donald E. Rennels of Longview, two grandchildren John Robert (Melissa) Rennels of Lawrenceburg, KY and Amy Lynn (Jon) Peirce of Monticello as well as three great grandchildren Hailey Elizabeth Peirce, Savanna Grace and Leah Rae Rennels.

Although a Quaker by church affiliation, Helen attended the Methodist church in Philo, and served in the WSCS in a variety of capacities. She was also involved with a number of civic, as well as, numerous Fraternal organizations. She served on the Philo Township Library Board, was a Past President of Tri-T, Past President of Philo Woman's Club, and a volunteer for many the Philo Celebrations over the years. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Hope Chapter of Eastern Star, a Past Royal Matron of The Order of Amaranth, and a Past Worthy High Priestess of White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, the Rev. Jim Dalrymple officiating. Burial will be in Whetstone Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial may be made to Friends Church of Georgetown, The Amaranth Bible Fund, or a charity of the donor's choice.
