Obituary

URBANA, IL- Helen Ora Hatter, 94, of Urbana, Illinois, passed away at 8:00 P.M., Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Champaign County Nursing Home in Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL. Rev. Rich Gregory will officiate. Burial will be held at Eastlawn Cemetery, Urbana, IL. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.

Helen was born on January 29, 1918 in Urbana, Illinois, a daughter of Ora Orville Ebert and Daisy Mae (Neal) Ebert. She married Frederick Clyde Hatter on January 25, 1941. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1983. Survivors include two sons, Frederick (Lynda) Hatter of Urbana, and Daniel (Pat) Hatter of Tolono, IL, 2 daughters, D. Fern Garcia of Elgin, Arizona and Karen(Dennis) Skinner of Bloomington, IL; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Kenneth Ebert of Florida and Paul Ebert of Reno, NV; and 2 sisters, Ruth Blakeslee of Crawfordsville, IN and Esther Thompson of Seattle, WA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Duane Hatter; three sisters, Dorothy Ostema, Mary Boggs, and Lillie McIntyre and two grandchildren.

Helen worked for the Urbana Jr. High as a pastry cook for 19 years and she was a member of the Pennsylvania Ave. Baptist Church. Mrs. Hatter was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She learned to love fishing at her Father's side and spent much of her retirement traveling.
