Helen Irene Hammock 77 of Urbana died at 11:56 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2009 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, the Rev. Ben Hoerr officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hammock was born on December 24, 1931 in Urbana, the daughter of William J. and Genevive M. Allison Sylvester. She married Warren G. Hammock on December 31, 1949 in Danville; he died on May 8, 1976.

Survivors include six children; Marilyn Powell and Carolyn Weinzirl both of Gulfport, MS, Jean (Alfred) Skinner of Long Beach, MS, Warren Hammock of Urbana, Jeff (Kathy) Hammock of Salem and Oma (Chris) Mendenhall of Urbana, one sister; Kathy (Charles) Hastings of Cave City, Kentucky, twenty two grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death one daughter; Sharon Neathery, three brothers, one sister and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hammock attended the Vineyard Church in Urbana.
