Helen N. Brookey 88 of Urbana died at 3:02 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Philo Road Church of Christ, Urbana, and Richard Miller officiating. Burial will be at Graceland/Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brookey was born on December 24, 1923 in Farmer City, the daughter of Henry and Ruth Hall. She married Woodrow Brookey on November 14, 1942 in Phoenix, Arizona, he survives.

Also surviving are two daughters; Sandra Pillow of Clovis, California and Marsha Vollmar of Cape Coral, Florida, one sister; Hilda Cox of Champaign, four granddaughters; Shana, Jennifer, Stephanie and Heather and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister; June Bray.

Mrs. Brookey graduated from Moore High School and Beauty School.

She retired as a secretary at the University of Illinois.

Mrs. Brookey was a member of Philo Road Church of Christ, Urbana.
