Harriette L. Lindsey, 78, of Urbana passed away Saturday (Dec. 17, 2011) at home, after a year long battle with cancer. She was born May 16, 1933, in Chicago, to Frank and Edna Jean Efner. She was married to Howard Halberstadt from 1953 to 1976, and to Mike Lindsey from 1978 to 1989. Survivors include her first husband, Howard, one son Alan (Vicki) Halberstadt of Champaign, and one daughter Susan Allen of Urbana. Also surviving are grandchildren Rachel Wilson of Arkansas, Christopher and Luke Allen of Urbana, and Sarah Halberstadt of Champaign, brother Jay Efner of Texas, and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her sisters Marion Simon and Charlotte Buford. Harriette retired from Carle Hospital where she worked in the communications department. After Carle, she worked for Riley Homes and Liberty Commons until becoming ill. A memorial reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 19, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory,1900 Philo Road, Urbana. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
