H. Scott Thrash, 51, of Gibson City passed away at 12:28 a.m., Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, 19000 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, with Rev. John Brennan officiating. A celebration of life reception at a family member's home will follow the service.
Mr. Thrash was born August 30, 1960 in McAllen, Texas to parents Dewey and Wilma (Haacke) Thrash. He married Margaret Carley March 25, 1989 in Murdock, Illinois; she survives.
Mr. Thrash is also survived by his mother, Wilma, of Mahomet, three sons; Tim Thrash (Emily Schacht), Scott Thrash (Jennifer Speicker), and Micheal Thrash, all of Champaign, two sisters; Debbie Hendon (Sherry Moore), of Champaign, Lisa Robiskey, of Pontiac, five grandchildren; Scott Thrash, of Danville, Jonah McBee Colee, of Bloomington, Mallerie Thrash, of Mahomet, Maya Keller, of Champaign, and Chance Speicker, of Champaign. His father, grandparents, and brother, Mike Thrash, preceded Scott in death.
Scott was a partner and manager of Kirby Tire and Service Center in Champaign and Urbana for more than 20 years. He was also a handyman and enjoyed working around his home. He was always eager to help friends and family with any project. Scott also found time to serve as Director for the ISSHA (Illinois State Stock Horse Association). He enjoyed trail riding and camping with his friends, family, and horses. He was also a member of the Chicago Reef Community and loved tending his coral reef fish tanks. His other hobbies included racing modified cars on dirt tracks (go Purple #17!), bargain hunting with his wife at horse and estate auctions, and spending time with his sons and grandchildren.
