Guangyan Pan, a caring father and husband of Urbana passed away at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 at home. He was 79 years old.

Mr. Pan was born on June 24, 1936 in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China, the son of Zheng Pan and Tianlu Lei. He married Deying Luo on November 7, 1957 in Lanzhou, China; she survives.

Also surviving are his children; Yuanming Pan of Wagga Wagga, Australia, Yuanlong Pan of Chesterfield, Missouri, Yuan-Xiang Pan of Savoy and Yuanji Pan of Frederick, Maryland, two brothers; Guangwu Pan of Lanzhou, Gansu, China, George Pan of Tempe, Arizona, one sister, Guang-Tsai Lei of Rochester, Minnesota and ten grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eldest daughter Yuanping Pan.

Mr. Pan retired as a professor of microbiology from the Gansu Agricultural University in China, a place he had worked since 1958.

Funeral services will be held on 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana.
