Grace "Gracie" Daniels, 85 of Mahomet went home to the Lord at 4:10 a.m. Sunday, August 31, 2008, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Champaign

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 4 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana with interment at Riverside Cemetery in Mahomet. Rev. Phillip Owen officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Daniels was born May 3, 1923 in Neoma, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Orel and Myrtle Henderson Tarter. She married Melvin C. Daniels on May 9, 1939 at Covington, Indiana. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1991.

She is survived by her Daughters, Alice Daniels Gaines (Carl Jones) of Champaign, Rosemary Daniels Ligget (Charles Gray) of Greenup, Fern Daniels Wakely of Rantoul; son, Fred Calvin Daniels of Mahomet; sisters, Mabel Underwood of LeRoy, Loretta Catron of Kentucky, Judy Carsey of Oklahoma; brothers, Walter Tarter of Iowa, Wilbur Tarter of Mahomet, Earl Tarter of Fairmount; nine Grandchildren, Ken Gaines of Sadorus, Keith Gaines of Champaign; Steve Gaines of Florida, Bryce Gaines of Florida, Shari Day of Champaign, Davin Daniels of Ludlow, Debbie King of Florida, Kevin Cowan of Colorado, Kathy Daniels Hayes of Rantoul; fifteen Great Grandchildren and eleven Great-Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters, a son and a grandchild.

Mrs. Daniels lived in Mahomet for more than fifty years. She has resided at Heartland Healthcare Center for the past six years where she leaves numerous friends who have loved and cared for her.

Memorials may be made to the Champaign County Humane Society or Grace Bible Church, Urbana.
