URBANA, IL-  Glenna J.  Hewkin, 88, of Urbana, IL, passed away at 11:30 PM, Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

There will be a memorial service at 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the First Baptist Church-Urbana, 3311 S. Philo Road, Urbana, IL, with a luncheon to follow.

Glenna was born in Assumption, Illinois on  August 22, 1930, a daughter of Tilford and Delight(Burgener) Freeman.  She married George Edward Hewkin on June 12, 1949.  He preceded her in death in August 2012.  Glenna and George had one daughter, Vicki Arnold, who preceded her in death, as well as a brother, James Freeman.  Survivors include two grandchildren, Michelle Arnold of Urbana and Roger Arnold of Florida; three great grandchildren, Kate Arnold, Annaliese Woodworth and Michael Woodworth.  Glenna had three nieces in Urbana that she was close with, Sharon O'Conner, Jo Brown and Carrie Cosner.

Glenna worked as a typesetter for the Champaign-Urbana Courier newspaper for many years.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church-Urbana, where she volunteered.
