Glen Ernest Chapman, 99 of Urbana died at 2:05 A.M. Sun. Jan. 28, 2007 at the Champaign County Nursing Home, U.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Fri. Feb. 2, 2007 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, U., the Rev. Raymond Gordon will officiate, and burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Chapman was born on Aug. 14, 1907 in Urbana, the son of Claude & Martha Chapman, he married Edith Viola Gordon on Aug. 17, 1930 in Champaign, and she died on March 24, 1994.

Survivors include a son James Chapman and daughter in-law Susan of Urbana, a granddaughter Julie Crosson and grandson William of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, LaRue and Stanley Chapman.

Mr. Chapman attended the University of Illinois in Urbana and received his undergraduate degree in 1929 and law degree in 1932. He owned his own law firm in Urbana for over 50 years. He retired in 1985 and was the former Mayor of Urbana from 1949-1957.

He was a member of the University Place Christian Church, C, a member of the Illinois and Champaign County Bar Associations, a life member of Urbana Lodge #157 A.F. & A.M., and the Urbana Country Club, a member of the Urbana Elks club, Moose club, Urbana VFW and Town Club.

Mr. Chapman was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II serving in the Signal Corps. from 1943 - 1945.

Mr. and Mrs. Chapman loved to travel and took many wonderful trips abroad.
