URBANA, IL- Gert H. Gentner, 60, of Urbana, IL, passed away peacefully at 5:58 A.M., Sunday, December 11, 2011.

There will be a private Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, December 17th, 2011. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, is in charge of arrangements.

Gert was born on November 6, 1951 in Bamberg, Germany, the son of John Bruce Brownlee and Else Gentner Brownlee. Survivors include his parents, three children, Alexander L. Gentner, Ashley E. Gentner and Amanda L. Gentner, all of Urbana, IL. Also surviving are three siblings, Barbara Brownlee of Tempe, AZ, John Kenny Brownlee of Geneva, Switzerland, and Brian Brownlee of Atlanta, GA.

Gert attended school in Augusta, Georgia and Parkland College, Champaign, IL and was a United States Air Force veteran. He later worked as a civil service worker for the University of Illinois. Gert was a loving father and an outstanding friend. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, shooting, music and beer.
