Gerald "Jerry" Beedy, 70, of Urbana passed away at 1:05 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Meadowbrook Health Center in Urbana.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory in Urbana. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the funeral home. Rev. Father Joseph Hogan will officiate. Following the service, entombment will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.

Jerry was born December 6, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents Harvey and Virginia (Newcomb) Beedy. Harvey preceded him in death. Virginia survives.

On June 16, 1973 he married Ellen Dable in Champaign, she survives. Also surviving are his two sons, Jeremy Beedy (Abby) of St. Louis, MO, Jarrod Beedy (Megan) of Mahomet, his sister, Susan Clinger (Mick) of Orlando, FL, grandchildren, Camden, Hudson, Jackson, Clay and Grace, and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry graduated from Dover Air Force Base High School. Upon attending junior college in Orlando, FL he served in the United States Air Force. When he returned from service Jerry started working at SuperValu, retiring after 40 years. Retirement suited Jerry- he was able to travel to Orlando to visit his mom and sister and to spend time on the beach, which he loved to do.

He loved watching Cincinnati Reds baseball games, bowling and playing Euchre. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Urbana American Legion Post #71 and playing with his cats "the girls", but mostly he loved spending time with his family and treasured the moments with his grandchildren.
