George E. Gravely 87 of Urbana died at 6:40 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, Rev. Chris Smithey will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gravely was born on March 11, 1929 in Cabel, West Virginia, the son of Thomas and Pearl Terry Gravely. He married Dessell Arthur on January 30, 1949 in Beckley, West Virginia; she died on June 20, 2013.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Gravely and David Gravely all of Urbana, one sister; Dora Jones of Beckley, West Virginia, eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, three sisters, nine brothers and one grandchild.

Mr. Gravely retired from the University of Illinois as an equipment operator.

He was a member of Curtis Road Church of God, Champaign.
