Obituary

Geneva Catherine Gillaspie, 94, of Champaign passed away at 6:23 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on December 13, 2016 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel in Urbana. Pastor Gary Grogan will officiate. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on December 13, 2016 at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign at a later date.

Geneva was born on August 3, 1922 in Garrett Township in Douglas County to parents Otto P. and Bertha C. (VonLanken) Kruse. They preceded her in death. On July 21, 1940 she married Charles Davis Sr., he passed away on May 4, 1994. On October 3, 1999 she married Wesley Gillaspie, he passed away on May 12, 2003. Also preceding her in death her 2 year old brother Glenny, granddaughter Catherine Collins, step son James Gillaspie, step granddaughter Abby Terven and great great grandson Tyrell Trotter.

She is survived by:

Her children; Judy King of Champaign, Linda Weber (Terry) of Roberts, Danny Davis (Nancy Ann) of Urbana and Charles Davis Jr. (Karla) of Altoona, IA, her step children; Monte Gillaspie of Oblong, IL, Carole Burns (J.R.) of Pesotum and Lynn Cain (Mike) of Champaign. From her marriage to Charles, nineteen grandchildren; Brenda Rockamann of St. Joseph, Sheri (Merle) Wilson of Rantoul, Wren Thomas of Maurice, LA, Kari (Randy) Tiffey of Indianapolis, IN , Kimberlee (Randy) York of Melvin ,Don Collins (Deb Howard) of Livingston, KY, Brian (Aimee) Collins of Wimberly, TX, Lori Sherfey (Rocky Marron) of Paxton, Robin (Jim Miller) of Urbana, Kelly Cary (Steward Dunlap) of Marshall MO, Jason (Jen) Davis of Springfield, IL, Brandy (Dan) Earl of St. Joseph, Gabriel Davis (Kim Ciszek) of Homer, Drew Davis of Ankeny, IA, Myles Davis of Hickam AFB, HI, Justin Putz-Gomez (Oscar) of Seattle, WA, Miriah Putz (Dusty Smith) of Dawson, IA, Amber Putz (Michael Podoll) of De Moine, IA and Austin Putz of Altoona, IA and thirty-five great grandchildren, forty-eight great great grandchildren.

From her marriage to Wesley she is survived by eight step grandchildren, and twelve step great grandchildren.

Geneva also leaves behind her beloved dog and companion, Molly, who was always by her side.

Geneva was a housekeeper for Carson's for nine years and for the U of I, Illini Towers for five years. She attended Faith Baptist Church in Champaign.
