Genelle Ingram, 101, of Urbana, died at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25 at Grace United Methodist Church, 2004 S. Philo Rd., Urbana with visitation one hour prior to service time at the church. Rev. Michael Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Renner-Wikoff Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ingram was born November 20, 1911 in Jasper County, Illinois the daughter of John and Della (Johnson) Shoemaker. She married Harlan Ingram in April, 1932. He preceded her in death in 1988. She had a son, Richard (Dick) Ingram and he preceded her in death in 1992. She is survived by a grandson, Terrance (Terry) Ingram (Charlene Fitzpatrick) of Monticello, four great granddaughters, one great-great grandson, brother, James G. (Bill) Shoemaker of Lincoln and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Genelle and her husband, Harlan, owned and operated Harlan's Market on Green Street in Urbana for 35 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist, Urbana, Zonta Club of Champaign-Urbana, Urbana Park District Senior Citizens, C-U Elks Ladies Card Club, Bowling Hall of Fame and Women's Bowling Association.
