Gene A. Davis, 56, of Urbana, died at 4:25 p.m. July 29, 2009, at home.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2009 at Roselawn Cemetery in Champaign. There will be no visitation. Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory 1900 S. Philo Rd. Urbana is handling the arrangements.

Gene Davis was born May 15, 1953 in Danville, IL a son of Vernice and Wilma Clem Davis. He is survived by his mother; a brother, Donald Davis; and two sisters, Sharon Baremore, and Janice Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his father, and a nephew.

Gene graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a BS in Recreation. He worked for over 25 years as a Recreation Director for the Women's Prison in Decatur. He taught sports, nutrition, and other life skills in his years at the prison. He was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Urbana, and an Illini and Cardinal fan.
