Gary James Kerr, 61, of Urbana passed away at 11:25 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017 at his residence.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel in Urbana. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.

Gary was born in Urbana on November 12, 1955 to parents Edward and Ruth (Teach) Kerr. They preceded him in death.

Gary graduated from Eastern Illinois University and worked his entire career within the Information Systems department of the federal government. Gary retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 2011.

An avid bowler, Gary also taught generations of youth to bowl. Gary also enjoyed working on his vehicles and was always on the lookout for another project. Gary will be remembered fondly by his friends and family as a kind and generous man. He will be greatly missed. Gary is survived by his brother, Michael (Cindy) Kerr of Orlando, FL, his niece Megan Kerr (Benjamin Osborn) of Gillette WY, his dear friend Lisa Ann Diaz, and his beloved dog, Buddy.
