George Denis Guyon, 68, of Urbana passed away at 12:19 pm Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital.

Denis was born January 6, 1946 in New York City, New York to John Guyon and Catherine Jane (Tawney) Guyon. He married Martha Mahannah in 1963. Survivors include Martha Guyon, former wife; children of Denis and Martha, Lyle Guyon (Johnna Parker) of Urbana and Amy Morgan (Neil) of Port St. Lucie, Florida; brothers Paul Guyon, Bobbie Klassen, and J.R. Klassen all of Florida; and sister Tawney Guyon of Champaign. He also leaves three granddaughters, one grandson, and one great grandson. Denis was preceded in death by his parents.

Denis attended the St Louis Institute of Music and the University of Illinois. He worked at the University of Illinois for many years as an assistant computer programmer and has been retired for several years. Denis was a very talented musician and played in many local bands in his earlier days. He enjoyed all music but played mostly rhythm and blues. He sang and played several instruments including keyboard, saxophone and harmonica.

Denis was a kind, humorous and gentle man and will be very much missed. An informal remembrance gathering for family and close friends will be held at the Greenhouse at Silvercreek Sunday July 13 from 5 pm.
