Fred Ervin Markstahler Jr., 73, of Tolono passed away at 5:37 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2019, at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana.

Fred was born in Urbana on January 17, 1946, to parents Fred and Helen (Mingee) Markstahler. They preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Judy Siems and Beverly "Jean" Baker.

He is survived by his children: Fred III, Brian (Amy), Troy, Jerrod (Amy), Christopher (Gigi) and Kelly Jo. Also surviving him are his siblings: Jim (Wanda), Bill (Vulta), Helen Drollinger, Sue (Bill) Wilson, in addition to 18 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Fred served in the United States Air Force from 1964-1968.  After returning home he worked as a plumber for twenty-five years.

The family would like to express deep appreciation to Susan Lambert and her family for the love and care extended to Fred over the last two decades.

A celebration of Fred's life is being planned for this summer.
