CHAMPAIGN, IL- Francis "Frank" G. Dale, 76, of Champaign, IL, passed away at 2:50 A.M., Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL with burial at Prairieview Cemetery, Savoy, IL. Visitation will be held one hour prior (11:00 A.M.- Noon) to the funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Frank was born March 25, 1936, a son of George T. and Arlene (Gear) Dale. He married Magel Wirtzberger on March 25, 1968 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Marleen Collins(Chuck) of Brier, WA and Ester O'Gara(Shawn) of Edmonds, WA; three grandchildren, Kyle Zimmermann, Michael O'Gara and Shayla Collins; a sister, Linda Spoon(Doug) of Newton, N.C.; nieces and nephews, Cathy Wicker(Danny), Liz Parks(Grady), and Mason Bristol(Renee), and an aunt, Evelyn DeJong, who is 104.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elinor Shields.

Frank graduated from Parkland College and served in the United States Air Force for 25 years. He worked for Everett Lab as an electronic engineering technician at the University of Illinois for 23 years. He was a past member of the Stratford Park Bible Chapel in Champaign. Frank was an avid reader, and he loved to cook, play chess, judo, karate, and he played the conga and bongos. He studied Chinese as a hobby and when he was younger, he learned how to skate and play hockey in the same day.
